Milton Glaser’s Certified Lapchi Collection Debuts at Santa Monica Museum of Art

On March 22, Lapchi’s Milton Glaser Collection, certified child-labor-free by GoodWeave, will launch at a special exhibition at the Santa Monica Museum of Art (SMMoA) entitled Milton Glaser for Lapchi: An Exploration of Pattern Making and Color Effects in Textiles, in conjunction with West Week.

GoodWeave USA Executive Director Featured at Harvard Social Enterprise Conference

On February 25 and 26, students from the Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School of Government will bring together the world’s leading experts to discuss high-impact social change at the 13th annual Social Enterprise Conference. One of the most anticipated panel discussions, “Human Trafficking and Supply Chains,” will feature Nina Smith, GoodWeave USA’s executive director, and other leaders working to expose and end slavery in the global economy.

Three More Rug Companies Earn GoodWeave’s Child-Labor-Free Label

Three more US rug companies have joined the GoodWeave® certification program, committing to a child-labor-free supply chain. With the addition of these companies, GoodWeave USA now licenses 90 North American importers, conducting frequent, unannounced inspections of their looms to verify that they only employ weavers of legal working age.

Google.org Joins the Fight to End Modern-Day Slavery with Grant to GoodWeave® USA

Google.org announced a grant to GoodWeave as part of its first-ever dedication of funds to support the global fight against human slavery. In recognition of GoodWeave’s nearly two decades of leadership in the modern abolitionist movement, Google is supporting its market-based model to eliminate child labor from the handmade rug industry.
