@ GoodWeave

GoodWeave welcomes Vivek Srivastava to the post of Executive Director of GoodWeave India. Vivek has over 16 years of experience in the corporate, development and government sectors. He began his career as a marketing and corporate strategy professional with L’Oreal-Paris and Thermax/Culligan. Prior to joining GoodWeave, Vivek served as the Portfolio Manager and Country Representative of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation in India. Vivek has also worked with the US-based nonprofit PATH in India, supervising a portfolio of programs in health, nutrition, water and health technologies, and the United Nations Development Programme, advising the Government of India on how to improve the aid effectiveness of externally funded programs cutting across various sectors of development. Vivek holds a graduate degree in Science, a PhD in Management and a diploma in human subject protection in behavioral and biomedical research from the University of Miami.

GoodWeave USA also welcomes Rebecca Shaloff back to its staff as Assistant Director of Strategic Partnerships after three years as the Screening Director of the Green Business Network. While there, she oversaw the accreditation process and sustainability standards for companies to earn Green America’s Seal of Approval. From 2005 to 2008, Rebecca was GoodWeave’s development officer managing both foundation and individual donor relationships. Prior to her work in the social labeling and green business arena, Rebecca was a labor researcher with a trade union in Mumbai, India.

Fayette Fox, previously an editor and freelancer with Lonely Planet, has also joined GoodWeave USA as Program Assistant. Fayette became interested in South Asia after travelling throughout the region for "Typewriter Tango," a blog created to promote cross-cultural understanding. She spent four months in India and Nepal, including time spent volunteering with dalit ("untouchable") teenagers in India. While working on her novel The Deception Artist, Fayette worked in executive support roles at companies such as the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council. Fayette has a master’s degree in publishing from London College of Communication.

This summer, three interns join the GoodWeave staff as well: Lina Lindahl, a master’s student at American University with a focus on social entrepreneurship; Kailin Liu, a graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington with a concentration on nonprofit management, policy analysis and social entrepreneurship; and Nisha Mulay, a student in Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University.

Children's Stories

At the age of five, Manju was already working on the rug looms. While she has since been found and freed from illegal carpet work, some 250,000 children throughout South Asia still toil in obscurity. Through GoodWeave nearly 3,600 kids like Manju have been rescued, rehabilitated and educated, and thousands more deterred from entering the work force.
